From NOLA to Tennessee then on to the Algarve (sort of).

Okay, so I just sat down to write today’s post, not really knowing what to write about, and one of my favourite songs comes on the radio 🙂

Not sure how many of you are ‘Nashville’ fans out there, but I love the show – I think it’s the accents;) And the songs. And did you know, two of the main characters – Scarlett & Gunnar –  are played by an Aussie & a Brit . They have nailed the southern accent (in my opinion, but I’m a Brit so not exactly an authority on the subject).

Anyway, I would say back to NOLA but I’m actually going to jump on over to Portugal now – bear with me, this comes under the ‘vs the world’ section. I was there on holiday a while back and, while not quite on a parr with NOLA for ‘oh my god, I want to live here’ reactions, it was bliss to lie on a beach with a book for a couple of weeks. Also, they had some really good food – you’re all going to think that’s all I do when I travel, eat, and actually it’s not that far from the truth!

I’ll probably write about some of the other recipes at some point in the future, but tonight I tried my hand at making Lacitos (or Lazos). They are Portuguese biscuits made from puff pastry & covered in sugar, and are delicious (especially the ones that have chocolate on them!). Well, the first attempt hasn’t gone too badly, but isn’t perfect at the moment, so I’m afraid I won’t be posting the recipe just yet. I’ll keep trying, and as soon as I crack it, the recipe’s yours. In the meantime, I’m off to eat my mistakes x
